Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide growth-hormone secretagogue and ghrelin-receptor (GHSR) agonist. Early pharmacology described selective growth-hormone release, and small human studies characterized pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics; a later phase 2 study in postoperative ileus did not show significant benefit on its principal efficacy measures. Ipamorelin is not FDA approved, and FDA's compounding review identifies safety and characterization gaps that are relevant to unsupported clinical claims.
